“My name is Elise Rhuppiah (Miss), Founder and current Managing Director at Fun-Lugha. I am a native Swahili speaker from Tanzania, which is where authentic Swahili originated from and is spoken. Besides managing Fun-Lugha, I have also been providing online Swahili tuition to students all over the world for over 10 years. Furthermore, I sometimes act as an En/Sw translator, consecutive interpreter, transcriber, proofreader & editor. I have lived and studied in Tanzania, Kenya and the UK and have also travelled to many other countries in Africa. This has largely contributed to my appreciation of many languages and cultures. Needless to say, I am a language lover and aspiring polyglot. This love for languages came about as a result of my interests in reading books, travelling and watching foreign films. Besides Swahili, I also speak English and some French. I am also very intrigued by and I am currently learning about many Asian languages & cultures including Thai, Japanese, Chinese & Korean. (A polyglot in waiting for sure, but do I say!). I am not all about languages, however. On weekends and during major sporting events you can always find me keenly following F1, Tennis, Basketball and many other sports. I am also an avid jogger whereby combined with my love for giving back, I can always be found participating in a number of Charity Marathons organized throughout the year. ”
